Hello. I am suffering upper back pain on my left side near my rib cage and at the side of my left breast?
The pain comes and goes and is sometimes more severe than other times it feels very uncomfortable and wriggle a lot when its there. There is something in my kidney the urologist told me but they are unsure as to what it is but it is not a kidney stone as it is attached to the kidney. can anyone give me any advice as to what it could be. Thankyou.

Is the pain worse when you’re upset or under stress? Does the pain stay local, or does it radiate to the neck and/or down the arm? Also do you tend to have digestive issues?

It might just be that your body isn’t used to you holding your arm up (to hold onto the steering wheel) on that side. If that’s the case, then you’ll get used to it. Try resting your elbow somewhere on the door when driving to take some of the pressure off. Also, make sure your seat is adjusted properly and you have good lumbar support (lower back). It will help with the upper back too and might just be the way you’re sitting. If neither of these things are the case, and the pain is really severe, then go to your doctor and see what they think.

Chest Pain, left side, upper chest? ive had it for a few months now and it isnt going away. (i’m 16)?
at first i went to a doctor and he said “oh you have Costochondritis.. it should go away in a couple weeks..” so 6 weeks later im still having it so i go back to the same docter and he said the same thing, its Costochondritis.. but now its been around 2 or 3 months since it first started and if it was what the doctor said it was shouldnt it have gone away by now? im 16, he said im too young to have heart problems.. and its not my lungs because it doesnt hurt me to breath..
my parents refuse to take me to a doctor again bc he’s said the same thing both times…

Sharp pain coming from upper back, left side by rib cage?
Hello all..
Played softball last night in 40 degree weather and I think I may have pulled something. I went for a pop up, stretched over my body with my left arm (going across the right side) and ever since then I keep feeling a sharp pain coming from what seems to be the back of my ribcage up towards my shoulder; about 2/3 up my back.
The pain occurs pretty much whenever I move. If I lay on my side, it hurts. If I reach in my car to turn the volume up/down, it hurts. Breathing even sometimes hurts. And by hurts I mean needles in the muscle.
I can also experience pain if I push the area with my thumb; reaching around with my left hand up towards my middle-to upper backside. Pain seems to be consistent whenever the pain is felt (no variations to the pain, if that matters).
So, anyone know if it’s serious or just happens to be a pull/strain on a muscle?
Thanks
Adam

Riverpalm answers:
It could just be a pulled or strained muscle, but I would recommend checking with your doctor as well.
If under age I would recommend letting your parents know what’s going on even before seeing the doctor so that they can help you keep an eye on the situation.
